Covid taught us that we can work anywhere and anytime. If it seems like we’re in more virtual meetings now than we were in in-person meetings before the pandemic, you’re right. The average time workers spend in weekly online meetings increased from 14.2 hours to 21.5 hours over the past two years. But these virtual meetings have freed us up to become a truly global workforce.
“Zoom” has become the generic for virtual meetings
And I suspect that most of us are, indeed, using Zoom. But the applications detailed below provide a wide range of functionality. Many of these applications are free or charge a nominal rate for the paid plan (vs Zoom’s $15/month rate) It’s worth giving them a try—especially if you’re already using these enterprise applications, including Microsoft and Calendly.
To think about. Zoom can be a little persnickety.
I was in Greece a while back, trying to Zoom with a colleague and it simply wasn’t working. But when we tried Google Meet, it opened right up–it was seamless. after I clicked on the Allow button like I still do with Zoom. If you’re already using enterprise platforms like Microsoft, Google and Calendly, it may be worth taking their meeting sharing apps out for a spin and saving the cost of Zoom. These are top meeting management tools not named Zoom that may be worth a try.
